About the PSEP-IMI Resources Website

The PSEP-IMI Resources Website is a national repository of Land Grant University pesticide safety education resources created by pesticide safety educators or partners in affiliated programs at Land Grant Universities. A major goal of the PSEP-IMI is to strengthen Pesticide Safety Education Programs by improving the quality, consistency, and accessibility of applicator training materials and classes, as well as passing rates and scores on certification tests. This website will help achieve this goal by expanding the availability of educational resources to PSEPs throughout the US. The site is password-protected and accessible only to educators affiliated with Pesticide Safety Education Programs at Land Grant Universities. User identity is verified before access is granted.

Website Content and Development

Four Regional Compilers (see sidebar), the Project Coordinator, Web Development Team, and members of the PSEP-IMI Steering Committee (representing DuPont Crop Protection, North Dakota State University, and Syngenta) collaborated on this site. The Regional Compilers were tasked with requesting, assembling, and classifying the resources/links provided by their colleagues in participating states. A Front-end Web Designer and Web Applications Specialist with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service were responsible for all technical and design features of the site including its accessibility from mobile platforms and compatibility with touchscreen devices.

Funding

Funding for the creation of this website was awarded in 2014 to the North Carolina Pesticide Safety Education Program, NC State University, through contracts funded by industry and administered by the PSEP-IMI Steering Committee. Regional Compilers also received PSEP-IMI funds to complete their work in 2014-2015.
